Douglas College Lions Win Silver at 2011 CWBL Open Finals
April 12, 2011 From Wheelchair Basketball Canada website (Surrey, BC) – After three days of intense wheelchair basketball action at the South Surrey Recreational Centre, Variety Village was crowned the 2011 CWBL Open Division Champions on Sunday, defeating the defending-champion Douglas College Lions by a score of 67-49. The bronze medal went to the Moncton Magic, who defeated the Douglas College Royals 90 - 86 in a high-scoring, physical game that showcased the sport to the fans who came out to watch live or via webcast at www.sportscanada.tv. read more...

2011 BC Provincial Teams Announced
March 28, 2011 BCWBS is pleased to announce this year’s Men's and Women's Provincial Teams. The teams will represent BC at the 2011 National Wheelchair Basketball Championships (Men) and CWBL Women’s Championships in Longueuil, QC on the May 13 – 15 weekend. Both teams are entering the tournaments as a defending champion from 2010 Nationals. read more...
Tim Frick City League Winter Session Wrap Up
March 23, 2011 The Winter Tim Frick City League showcased another great season of wheelchair basketball at Douglas College. Continuing off a strong Fall season, 27 participants took to the court to develop their game experience, learned new skills, and built camaraderie with their teammates. Our new league leader Holly Tawse pulled off a successful season with her enthusiasm and big smile. Mentored by long time leader Joe Higgins, she kept the same quality of the league while bringing fresh aspects. A new addition to this year’s season was the ‘Frick Fact of the Week Challenge’ which was created to honour and learn more about the League’s history. read more...

All-Comers Basketball Festival Report
March 22, 2011 The inaugural All-Comers Wheelchair Basketball Festival was held on Saturday, March 11, 2011 with over 24 participants attending the afternoon event at Douglas College. A mix of both veteran and new athletes came out to the event which saw seven first time participants to the sport of wheelchair basketball. The afternoon showcased 4 on 4 scrimmages, a team relay challenge, and a skills session, providing an opportunity for athletes to hone their skills in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. read more...
