Taking Your Game To A New Level
Over the last three months, BCWBS members have had the chance to participate in a number of game opportunities. Regardless of your level of play, you now know the things you do well on the court, the things that you need to improve on, and hopefully what level of play you enjoy most. Because whether you are playing in the Tim Frick League and preparing for January’s session or you are training for National Team selection camp, it is time to take your game to a new level.
Here are some helpful tips to get the mojo going:
- Get your chair in tip-top condition or learn more about how your chair works.
- Develop your knowledge of wheelchair basketball by watching a game at a higher level. During the game, watch what the impact player does to make an impact.
- Measure your success by how much you’ve improved in a certain specific skill, ie; number of foul shots made, speed from baseline to baseline.
- Try to increase your practice and game commitment by 10%. For some that might mean one additional opportunity a month, for others it might mean more.
- Train or play with a friend
These simple tips will put you on your way to success in the months to come. Remember to brag to yourself about how much you have improved and how much fun you are having. This will show in your game.
A special thanks to all the coaches and athletes who have got the season off to such a good start. Love the game and the game will love you back!!
Fall Session of Wheelchair Basketball Off To a Fabulous Start
It was great to see so many athletes at the High Performance Camp in November. The Be Squad had a very successful first tournament, bringing home the trophy from south of the border. Tim Frick League, Trinity Western, our High Performance practices, and our regional programs all seem to be progressing and meeting the needs of our membership. A special thank you needs to go out to those who make these programs successful. Your efforts are very much appreciated.
