BC Wheelchair Basketball Announces Athletes Named to the 2015 Canada Winter Games Wheelchair Basketball Team
(Vancouver, BC) – BC Wheelchair Basketball Society is proud to announce the 12 athletes selected to represent Team BC at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in wheelchair basketball. The squad was chosen following a camp in Prince George over Thanksgiving Weekend.
The 12 selected athletes are:
Joel Ewert (Prince George, BC)
Aiden Love (Victoria, BC)
Riley Martin (Oliver, BC)
Alec Kendall (Kelowna, BC)
Ben Garrett (Abbotsford, BC)
Ben Hamilton (Surrey, BC)
Ben Hagkull (Chilliwack, BC)
Erin Higgins (Delta, BC)
Paula Higgins (Delta, BC)
Tanner Scott (Chilliwack, BC)
Jack Kosterman (Fort Langley, BC)
Avril Harris (Prince George, BC)
The team will be coached by multiple Paralympic gold-medalist Marni Abbott-Peter.
“I am really looking forward to the opportunity for Team BC to play in our home province for the first time since wheelchair basketball has been in the Canada Games,” she said. “We have a great group of athletes with a good mix of youth and experience. We are preparing for a peak performance at the games and will be battling hard to reach the podium!”
The squad includes:
- Jack Kosterman and Aiden Love, who represented Canada at the U23 Junior Wheelchair Basketball World Championships;
- Prince George natives Joel Ewert and Avril Harris;
- Sisters Erin and Paula Higgins, whose mother and father are both Paralympians.
The team will compete at the 2015 Canada Winter Games from Feb. 14th to Feb. 19th, 2015.
