Register Now - Powell River Ravens Weekly Program
The Powell River Ravens invite you to attend a weekly recreational wheelchair basketball camp. This skills camp will run 10 weeks in length from September 24 to November 26, with a final exciting game against another team. We will meet at the Brooks gym from 4 to 6pm on Fridays.
If you meet these 4 minimum skill requirements, you are welcome to join the team! All ages are welcome.
- able to catch and throw a 5 foot pass
- can follow directions in a team environment
- independently wheels one’s own chair
- has a positive influence on the other players and on the team as a whole
This development camp is designed to provide opportunities for players at all levels with the following objectives:
- To provide people, with and without disabilities, the opportunity to lead a healthy lifestyle through organized sport.
- To provide our community with an inexpensive family-friendly sporting activity.
- To foster a non-threatening environment which is conducive to developing individual WCB skills.
- To help new players learn the sport in a social environment.
- To inform our devoted players of WCB opportunities throughout BC and Canada.
- To develop a coach and to provide him or her with training and mentorship.
- To develop a referee and to provide him or her with mentorship. (The primary goal for a beginner referee is to enforce and educate the basic rules to the players in a friendly manner, not focusing on every infraction in the beginning of the camp and gradually calling the rules closer to regular game standards based on the experience of the players and their level of play.)
- To generate player satisfaction and enjoyment.
There will be a $25 enrollment fee for each player at the time of registration. This cost will go directly toward a customized Ravens jersey.
