BCWBS Seeks Canada Game Team Manager and Assistant Coach
BCWBS is accepting applications for the position of Team Manager and Assistant Coach for Team BC that will be competing at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, February 10 – 18, 2010. These are both volunteer positions but an honorarium is provided and certain expenses will be covered to attend camps and competitions pertaining to this position.
Team Manager
Role: The Team Manager works in cooperation with and takes direction from the coaching staff and players (more specifically the player rep/captain) to provide team cohesion by ensuring quality communication internally and externally, and to assist in achieving the best possible performance at the 2011 Canada Winter Games. The Team Manager reports to the Head Coach and liases with BC Wheelchair Basketball Society.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Minimum Full Level 1 NCCP Coaching Certification in wheelchair basketball
- Strong organization skills and ability to work in team environment
- class 4 drivers license (an asset)
Assistant Coach
Role: Athletes involved in the Team BC Program have entered their next level of development, a stepping stone for some individuals on their way to higher levels of competition. The Assistant Coach will work in cooperation with the head coach, manager, athletes, and BCWBS to prepare Team BC in achieving the best possible performance at the 2011 Canada Winter Games, while working to enhance the individual skill level of all players.
Minimum Coach Requirements:
- Minimum full NCCP Level 3 coaching certification in wheelchair basketball
- Previous wheelchair basketball coaching experience is required. This includes experience in the instruction, training, and preparation of athletes, as well as game and competition experience.
- Coaches must complete the BCWBS coaching code of conduct and a criminal record check prior to commencing the coach position
