(Vancouver, BC) - BC Wheelchair Basketball Society (BCWBS) is pleased to announce that Sian Blyth will take over for Managing Director Carrie Linegar during her maternity leave.

"Sian has decades of experience in wheelchair sports and we're excited for her to bring her wealth of knowledge to our organization," said Linegar.

Blyth first got involved in wheelchair sports in her native country of the UK in 1994. When she moved to Vancouver in 1999, she began working with BC Wheelchair Sports Association and helped to create the Bridging the Gap program, which introduces people with newly acquired disabilities to wheelchair sports. Since then, Blyth has worked with BC Mobility Opportunity Society and the Disabled Skiers Association of BC, and also founded the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program. She is also the Founder and President of You Can Event Management, which uses adaptive sport experiences to help individuals and organizations build personal and team skills.

"Working in wheelchair sports has changed me as a person and I've loved seeing how it's changed other people's lives," said Blyth. "It's made me so aware of everyone's abilities. I love it."

Blyth is looking forward to continuing the work done by Linegar and taking on new challenges as the Managing Director.

"I'm excited for this opportunity and definitely looking forward to coming back to the community I know so well," said Blyth. "Everyone is so welcoming and supportive."
