BCWBS at the 2018 Kamloops BC Winter Games
BCWBS is thrilled to be part of the upcoming Kamloops 2018 BC Winter Games.
The BC Winter Games provides a competitive multi-sport environment that supports the development of athletes, coaches, and officials as they move on to higher levels of competition. The BC Games contribute to the development of sport and communities through infrastructure updates and improvements, volunteer engagement and skill enhancement, and large-event hosting experience. 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of the BC Games, and the third time Kamloops has hosted them.
BC Wheelchair Basketball Zone’s competing in the Kamloops 2018 BC Winter Games are as follows.
Zone 2 - Thompson Okanagan
Zone 3 - Fraser Valley
Zone 5 - Vancouver Coastal
Zone 6 - Vancouver Island - Central Coast
Zone 8 - Cariboo - North East
These Games will include participants from across BC in 19 sports, 247 officials, 1519 athletes, 382 coaches, for a total of 2148 participants; locations - 11 facilities in Kamloops, Stake Lake stadium and Sun Peaks Resort. At the BC Winter Games athletes range in age from 12-20 years and this is an important development step as athletes prepare for the Canada Winter Games. Alumni include 1996 BC Games participant, current National Wheelchair Basketball Team Member Bo Hedges.
