January 2011 High Performance Camp
BCWBS hosted another regional training center camp (HP camp) January 7 – 9, 2011. This high performance camp brought players together from across the province and provided them with the opportunity to kick off the New Year with some great wheelchair basketball. The weekend was comprised of some benchmark testing, some individual skills, as well as team play and strategy.
A number of coaches participated in the camp, providing insight and encouragement. Special thanks go out to this valuable team of coaches. Guest coaches included Ross Tomlinson, elite development manager from Basketball BC. Two coaches came from Seattle to learn more about how we run high performance camps in British Columbia. All these coaches were very impressed with the caliber of play and the details of the camp.
We continue to see our provincial high performance players evolve. Many of them participated in a national festival in Montreal and then made their way to a weekend full of basketball. They showed us what it takes to become better. Great display of commitment! Many athletes showed their improvement from past high performance camps. It is this kind of improvement that will help keep British Columbia as one of the strongest provinces in wheelchair basketball. Great job by both coaches and athletes!! You are making BC proud!
In the coming weeks and months, our athletes and teams will be measuring themselves in some major events: women’s and men’s selection camps, CWBL finals, Canada Winter Games, and Nationals. Let’s keep the momentum going and help each other reach both our team and individual goals!
